Courtesy Visit to the Embassy of the Portuguese Republic

On December 10, 2025, President Hiroko Suzuki of our foundation paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Gilberto Jorge de Sousa Jerónimo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic to Japan.

During the meeting, President Suzuki outlined the mission and activities of the foundation and emphasized the importance of medical exchange between Japan and other countries. She also explained the training programs undertaken by physicians who have been invited to or dispatched abroad through the foundation’s medical exchange initiatives.

In response, Ambassador Jerónimo expressed his appreciation for the visit and conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the foundation’s activities, as well as its efforts to promote medical collaboration between Japan and Portugal.

A Meeting Was Held in Preparation for the 20th Anniversary Charity Gala

On December 5, 2025, at the International House of Japan, President Hiroko Suzuki of our foundation and Board Member Peter Susitsky held a meeting regarding the charity gala reception to mark the 20th anniversary of the foundation, scheduled for the coming year.

During the meeting, they discussed the musical program with soprano Hisae Kakizawa, who will perform opera selections live at the event.

Attendance at a Medical Lecture on Geriatric Medicine

On December 3, 2025, Hiroko Suzuki, President of our foundation, attended a medical lecture entitled “Senior Citizens’ Class: An Introduction to Geriatric Medicine,” delivered by Professor Sumito Ogawa, Professor of Geriatric Medicine, Department of Aging Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, and Director of the Department of Geriatric Medicine and Dementia Center at the University of Tokyo Hospital.

The lecture provided extensive insights into the fundamentals of geriatric medicine essential for maintaining and improving quality of life in later years, as well as the importance of dementia prevention.

This lecture proved to be an extremely valuable learning opportunity in advancing the foundation’s mission to promote Quality of Life (QOL), particularly through initiatives that support a richer and more fulfilling life during older age.

Hiroko Suzuki, President of our foundation, accompanied Her Excellency Aleksandra Kovač, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Japan, on a courtesy visit to the The New York Times (Asia-Pacific) Office, which has long provided generous support for the foundation’s activities.

The Republic of Serbia is a country where the foundation implemented a physician invitation program in the previous fiscal year. Through this visit, President Suzuki and Ambassador Kovač expressed their sincere appreciation to Ms. Helena Hua, Executive Vice President of The New York Times Asia-Pacific, for her continued support, while also providing an update on the foundation’s most recent activities.

[Hosted by QoLF] Charity Medical Lecture Held at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia

On November 21, 2025, beginning at 6:30 p.m., a charity medical lecture was successfully held at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia.

At the opening of the event, Her Excellency Aleksandra Kovač, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Japan, delivered a warm welcome address.

During the medical lecture session, Dr. Takeshi Sano, Director of the Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, presented an engaging and accessible lecture entitled *“Understanding Cancer.” This was followed by a presentation by Professor Kiyoshi Hasegawa, Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery and Artificial Organ and Transplantation Surgery, Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo, who introduced cutting-edge medical practices through surgical images related to hepatobiliary, pancreatic, and transplant surgery.

This event served not only as a valuable educational opportunity contributing to the enhancement of quality of life, but also as a meaningful occasion to deepen交流 with participants.

President Hiroko Suzuki was invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia to attend a reception in honour of the visit of Ms. Maja Gojkovic, Prime Minister of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia, held at the Serbia Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo on the 7th of June.

Certificate Award Ceremony for the Medical Programme for Invited Medical Specialists at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

QoLF President Hiroko Suzuki attended the certificate award ceremony for Dr. Alshare, a Jordanian doctor who completed the QoLF medical programme, hosted by Ali Abdul Wahhab Ali Al-Arabiat, Charge d’Affaires of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The ceremony was conducted at the residence of the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The directors and chief physicians of Kagoshima Sagara Hospital, Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, and the University of Tokyo Hospital, where Dr. Alshare completed the programme, confirmed the completion of the course and presented Dr. Alshare with certificates of completion from their respective hospitals.This was followed by a performance of the national anthems of both countries by soprano Hisae Kakizawa. Afterwards, the participants enjoyed a Jordanian dinner and talked about their experiences during the medical programme in Japan. All of the doctors expressed their hope that medical exchanges between Japan and Jordan will continue in the future.

Welcome Reception for the Doctor Invited from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On 24 May 2025, we held a welcome reception for doctors invited from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan who were undergoing training in Japan.
This welcome party was held to deepen the acquaintance between the doctors from the University of Tokyo Hospital and the Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, which are our training cooperation hospitals, and Mr. Ali Abdul-Wahhab Ali AL-ARABIYAT, Charge d’Affaires ad interim, also attended the event.

Discussion Meeting with QoLF Supporters from Poland
