The Quality of Life Fund raised from the foundation’s project will be utilized to invite doctors, who are recommended by the Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, from Uruguay for their study at Japan’s leading medical institutions in 2017.
We received a message from the Mr. José Mujica, the former President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, for our contribution of the support for the medical development to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

On June 13, 2024, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported on the visit of HE Jordanian Ambassador Lina Annab to Kagoshima Prefecture. The ambassador met with the prefectural governor and visited Sagara Hospital to discuss plans for the training of Jordanian doctors, as part of the QoLF international medical exchange program, with funding already secured by QoLF for next year.

On 28 March 2024, H.E. Aleksandra Kovács, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Japan and H.E. Hisela Beatriz García Rivera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Japan paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Sakae Tanaka Hospital, University of Tokyo Hospital, which has been cooperating in the QoLF international exchange for medical specialists who are recommended by the embassies of the countries.
The courtesy visit took place in the Director’s Office of the University of Tokyo Hospital, where the Head of the International Medical Division provided an overview of the hospital’s esteemed position as a premier healthcare institution in Japan. Following this introduction, Hospital Director Professor Tanaka elaborated on the University of Tokyo Hospital’s mission and scope.
During the visit, the Ambassadors of Serbia and Cuba expressed their interest in fostering continued academic exchanges in the future, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in medical education and practice.
The delegation was then given a tour of the University of Tokyo Hospital, acquainting them with its state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
QoLF Academic Exchange Programme in Havana, Republic of Cuba

In response to a request from the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Japan, Dr. Kiyoshi Hasegawa, Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Department of Surgery for Organ Pathology, Artificial Organs, and Transplantation, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, was dispatched to Cuba on March 2, 2024, funded by QoLF Academic Exchange Fund.
During his visit, Dr. Hasegawa delivered lectures and engaged in discussions at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital and William Soler Hospital. Additionally, he provided technical support at CIMEQ (The Medical Surgical Research Centre), contributing to advancements in medical practices.
The final day of the academic exchange involved a meeting at the Cuban Ministry of Health with the Dr. Reinol Delfin García Moreiro, Deputy Minister of Public Health and senior officials. At this gathering, QoLF President Suzuki and Professor Hasegawa expressed their gratitude to Dr. Iliovanys Betancourt Plaza of the Ministry of Health and the medical professionals at the hospitals for their support of the program. In his welcoming address, the Vice-Minister of Health acknowledged the program’s achievements and expressed hope for its continuation in the future.
Attendance at Working Dinner at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba

On February 7, 2024, President Hiroko Suzuki of the Quality of Life Foundation (QoLF) attended a working dinner at the official residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba. The event, hosted by H.E. Ms. Gisela Beatriz GARCÍA Rivera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Japan, was held in preparation for a medical academic exchange visit to Cuba scheduled for early March 2024. Dr. Kiyoshi Hasegawa, a distinguished Professor of Hepatobiliary and Transplantation Surgery at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Medicine, is slated to lead the delegation.
The purpose of the visit revolves around medical exchange, particularly focusing on hepatobiliary surgery. Dr. Hasegawa will deliver lectures, partake in surgical procedures, and engage in discussions on surgical techniques during his time in Cuba. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with officials from the Cuban Ministry of Health to foster collaboration and exchange of expertise.
At the working dinner, discussions centered on finalizing the itinerary for the hospital visits during the academic exchange. Furthermore, Ambassador Garcia conveyed her appreciation to Professor Hasegawa and the organizing committee for facilitating this valuable academic collaboration. The exchange is anticipated to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation between medical professionals from Japan and Cuba, ultimately benefiting patients in both countries.
Visit to the Embassy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On 26th December 2023, at the Royal Hashemite Embassy in Jordan, QoLF President Suzuki informed H.E. Ms. Lina Annab that Jordan is a candidate to invite doctors to Japan and that the funds will be used from the proceeds of the Charity Gala Dinner in 2024.
In response, H.E. Ms. Annab expressed her gratitude and generously offered her cooperation in organising the 2024 Charity Gala Dinner.
Cookery Class & Dinner at the Ambassador’s Residence of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On December 15, 2023, the Cookery Class & Dinner took place with the couple and their acquaintances.
The class was the auction item which was contributed as the ‘Cooking Class & Dinner at the Ambassador’s Residence’ by H.E. Ms. Lina Annab, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Charity Gala Dinner held in October, and was won by Mr. & Mrs. Hirai, Chairman of Kanagawa Country Club.
The class was a very special evening where attendees had the opportunity to learn Jordanian cuisine in person from H.E. Ms. Lina Annab.
Visit to Niigata University of Health and Welfare

On December 4, 2023, QoLF President Suzuki visited Niigata University of Health and Welfare.
The university is an integrated medical care institution with six faculties and 15 departments on one campus, encompassing medicine, nursing, rehabilitation, sports, welfare, and medical IT.
During the meeting with professors from various fields, the potential for academic exchange between QoLF and the university in the fields of medicine and rehabilitation was discussed.
