Attendance at Working Dinner at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba
2024.02.07
On February 7, 2024, President Hiroko Suzuki of the Quality of Life Foundation (QoLF) attended a working dinner at the official residence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba. The event, hosted by H.E. Ms. Gisela Beatriz GARCÍA Rivera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Japan, was held in preparation for a medical academic exchange visit to Cuba scheduled for early March 2024. Dr. Kiyoshi Hasegawa, a distinguished Professor of Hepatobiliary and Transplantation Surgery at the University of Tokyo’s Graduate School of Medicine, is slated to lead the delegation.
The purpose of the visit revolves around medical exchange, particularly focusing on hepatobiliary surgery. Dr. Hasegawa will deliver lectures, partake in surgical procedures, and engage in discussions on surgical techniques during his time in Cuba. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with officials from the Cuban Ministry of Health to foster collaboration and exchange of expertise.
At the working dinner, discussions centered on finalizing the itinerary for the hospital visits during the academic exchange. Furthermore, Ambassador Garcia conveyed her appreciation to Professor Hasegawa and the organizing committee for facilitating this valuable academic collaboration. The exchange is anticipated to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation between medical professionals from Japan and Cuba, ultimately benefiting patients in both countries.
