The Quality of Life Fund raised from the foundation’s project will be utilized to invite doctors, who are recommended by the Ambassador of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, from Uruguay for their study at Japan’s leading medical institutions in 2017.

We received a message from the Mr. José Mujica, the former President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, for our contribution of the support for the medical development to the Oriental Republic of Uruguay.

President Hiroko Suzuki was invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia to attend a reception in honour of the visit of Ms. Maja Gojkovic, Prime Minister of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia, held at the Serbia Pavilion at the Osaka-Kansai Expo on the 7th of June.

Certificate Award Ceremony for the Medical Programme for Invited Medical Specialists at the Residence of the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

QoLF President Hiroko Suzuki attended the certificate award ceremony for Dr. Alshare, a Jordanian doctor who completed the QoLF medical programme, hosted by Ali Abdul Wahhab Ali Al-Arabiat, Charge d’Affaires of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The ceremony was conducted at the residence of the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The directors and chief physicians of Kagoshima Sagara Hospital, Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, and the University of Tokyo Hospital, where Dr. Alshare completed the programme, confirmed the completion of the course and presented Dr. Alshare with certificates of completion from their respective hospitals.This was followed by a performance of the national anthems of both countries by soprano Hisae Kakizawa. Afterwards, the participants enjoyed a Jordanian dinner and talked about their experiences during the medical programme in Japan. All of the doctors expressed their hope that medical exchanges between Japan and Jordan will continue in the future.

Welcome Reception for the Doctor Invited from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

On 24 May 2025, we held a welcome reception for doctors invited from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan who were undergoing training in Japan.
This welcome party was held to deepen the acquaintance between the doctors from the University of Tokyo Hospital and the Cancer Institute Hospital of JFCR, which are our training cooperation hospitals, and Mr. Ali Abdul-Wahhab Ali AL-ARABIYAT, Charge d’Affaires ad interim, also attended the event.

Jordanian Ambassador Visits Kagoshima Governor: Yomiuri Shimbun Report

On June 13, 2024, the Yomiuri Shimbun reported on the visit of HE Jordanian Ambassador Lina Annab to Kagoshima Prefecture. The ambassador met with the prefectural governor and visited Sagara Hospital to discuss plans for the training of Jordanian doctors, as part of the QoLF international medical exchange program, with funding already secured by QoLF for next year.

HE Ambassadors of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cuba to Japan paid a courtesy call on Dr Sakae Tanaka, Director of the University of Tokyo Hospital.

On 28 March 2024, H.E. Aleksandra Kovács, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Serbia to Japan and H.E. Hisela Beatriz García Rivera, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba to Japan paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Sakae Tanaka Hospital, University of Tokyo Hospital, which has been cooperating in the QoLF international exchange for medical specialists who are recommended by the embassies of the countries.

The courtesy visit took place in the Director’s Office of the University of Tokyo Hospital, where the Head of the International Medical Division provided an overview of the hospital’s esteemed position as a premier healthcare institution in Japan. Following this introduction, Hospital Director Professor Tanaka elaborated on the University of Tokyo Hospital’s mission and scope.

During the visit, the Ambassadors of Serbia and Cuba expressed their interest in fostering continued academic exchanges in the future, underscoring the importance of international cooperation in medical education and practice.

The delegation was then given a tour of the University of Tokyo Hospital, acquainting them with its state-of-the-art facilities and resources.

QoLF Academic Exchange Programme in Havana, Republic of Cuba

In response to a request from the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Japan, Dr. Kiyoshi Hasegawa, Professor of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at the Department of Surgery for Organ Pathology, Artificial Organs, and Transplantation, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, was dispatched to Cuba on March 2, 2024, funded by QoLF Academic Exchange Fund.

During his visit, Dr. Hasegawa delivered lectures and engaged in discussions at Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital and William Soler Hospital. Additionally, he provided technical support at CIMEQ (The Medical Surgical Research Centre), contributing to advancements in medical practices.

The final day of the academic exchange involved a meeting at the Cuban Ministry of Health with the Dr. Reinol Delfin García Moreiro, Deputy Minister of Public Health and senior officials. At this gathering, QoLF President Suzuki and Professor Hasegawa expressed their gratitude to Dr. Iliovanys Betancourt Plaza of the Ministry of Health and the medical professionals at the hospitals for their support of the program. In his welcoming address, the Vice-Minister of Health acknowledged the program’s achievements and expressed hope for its continuation in the future.
